Idle suspicion: the most useful piece of information one can obtain about a potential romantic partner is their favourite romances. I read Twilight closely when it was still new because my first girlfriend absolutely loved it and drew her inner narrative from it, and in hindsight Hawksong is a pretty good window into how my current SO seems to want relationships to go. Few fictions can be reproduced in real relationships, but knowing the mood or model someone wants seems incredibly helpful.

Meanwhile, I gotta admit that Teachers Pest is the model I tend to inherently want my relationships to follow, while Professor Incognito Apologizes and Twig make pretty strong suggestions about what I want or miss these days.
