I don’t watch a lot of anime.

A lot of anime recommended to me is more on the “5 episode extended fights” level (shounen?) or is really long or is generally not what I’m interested in watching.

But I really love Revue Starlight.

Now, me being me and me being a part of the sort of internet culture I am a part of you might think I just like it because GAY and because GIRLS and sure, I do like that there are a lot of homoromantic undertones and any TV show primarily featuring women as more than objects of the male gaze is pretty rad. I won’t deny that.

But Revue Starlight is so much more.

Revue Starlight is about knowing what it is you want and SEIZING it. It’s about holding true to promises made to your friends and to yourself. It’s about recognizing the moments where you truly shine; not because of others expense, but because you just…put yourself out there.

It’s about gracefulness in the face of a defeat. It’s about never giving up. It’s about finding your own independence while holding true to your friendships.

It’s about knowing that, if you want to achieve great things, some times you will have to oppose those you love but you do not need to burn bridges and tear your friends down to reach the top. Encourage each other while climbing. Remind each other to shine bright and push onward.

Everyone has their own reason for pursuing the top; good and bad. The best thing we can do is accept when we are defeated and keep on shining. And when we win, the best thing we can do is set out a hand for the others and help them back up.

idk this got rambly but it’s just a very good anime
