The Wolpertinger is a rabbit-like creature from Bavaria Germany. The Wolpertinger is described as a rabbit with bird wings, deer antlers, and fangs of some sort. Sadly however like the Jackalope of North America the Wolpertinger is a taxidermy hoax as well but that doesn’t stop them from being popular in Germany. Wolpertinger taxidermy art is usually sold to tourists when they go to visit Bavaria.

The Jackalope is a cryptid found in North America. It is described as a rabbit with antlers. The name Jackalope is a fusion of antelope and jackrabbit. Taxidermy Jackalopes sadly aren’t real they are rabbits with small bits of deer horns stuck to their heads. The legend of the Jackalope may have come from sightings of rabbits with the Shope Papilloma Virus which causes them to grow hard tusk and horn protrusions on their bodies.

I’ve wanted to do a human version of Tamatoa ever since I saw Moana. Not an original idea in any way. You can find a lot of versions on Google but what finally pushed me over the edge to start this piece was Jonathan Young’s Metal rendition of Shiny and I just knew I had to draw Tamatoa inspired by Mr Young!
