“I’m trying to be helpful,” Sherwood replied. “I don’t want her to get hurt and Discord is nothing but trouble. I’m not trying to make an enemy of her I’m just being honest. She deserves better.”
Sabriel looks at him skeptically. “Two things. One, you don’t get to decide that for her; it’s her heart and her life. You of all people should know that you really don’t get to choose who you fall for. And he really has been good to her this far.” She pauses considering. “And second… That is not how you talk a woman out of doing something.”
“That really sounds like four things, but you combined three into the first thing.” Sherwood scrunches his face, trying to parse that. “And…I know. It’s why I haven’t bothered her about it until now. He’s got her wrapped around his finger but until now she’s seemed content so I brushed it off…mostly.”
“And in my experience? It’s impossible to talk a woman out of doing anything! It’s way easier to talk her into something.”
“Oh so like into bed with you, you mean? Oh shucks, guess I’m like every other naive little girl.” She snickers. “Do even hear the words that come out of your mouth?”
Sabriel walks over and puts her hands on his shoulders. “Look dude, you aren’t the golden boy every young maiden waits for to save her from the big bad. This isn’t a fairytale. Will you meet those kinda of girls, yeah sure, but they aren’t worth your time. Every person that’s worth knowing is perfectly capable of saving themself.”
“No! N-no, that’s not what I meant. I mean, it’s easier to talk her into doing…anything?” Sherwood blushes because he’s aware he sounds like an idiot.
“So…what are you saying? I shouldn’t help her? I’m confused.”
