Last night I had a dream that I can only vaguely remember. I bring this up because it leads into a dream that is still very vivid and that I really wanted to share.

I was part of an organization trying to save the world. We had recruited Thane from the Mass Effect series to help us ((and the two of us were together so I guess that makes me Shephard)).

Something went wrong and Thane disagreed with us recruiting Elise from the League of Legends. The rest of the team locked him up in a spare room while we all went off to fight. He escaped, and snuck to the stairwell where Elise was fighting ((The setting for this is vague, I apologize it’s the key part I can’t remember)).

I came upon the scene as Thane shot Elise, and the spider woman fell down the stairs. He then turned the gun on himself and I was so scared. I ran un and grabbed him. I hugged him and buried my face in his chest and begged him not to. He frowned at me and kept saying things like, “Siha, I am dying…” Everything kind of fades away there. It was just so sad…

But it reminded me of another dream…

I had just beaten Mass Effect 3. I chose the third ending ((spoilers possible ahead!)) and remember watching Shepard fall as the memories of those she loved flashed through her head. I sobbed for a good while.
Earlier in the game Thane died to an assassin, but not before saying a prayer for his Siha and promising that he would wait for her.

The dream started with me, more clearly as Shephard this time, falling into an endless ocean. I was alone. I picked a direction and started swimming. It seemed like the best option.

Eventually I found a rowboat going the same way. Inside was Admiral Anderson. He helped me out of the water, and I helped him row. After an age we saw an island in the distance. It was beautiful. Lush green trees surrounded a white peaked mountain. As we got closer, we could hear voices shouting our names. Closer still, and we saw faces.

Standing on the beach, waiting for us was everyone I had lost in the series. Mordin, Legion, Ashley, Jack, and right in front: Thane. They helped us onto the beach and pulled me into a group hug. I cried tears of joy.
“I told you I would wait for you, Siha,” said Thane.

A montage of scene came after that. The island was paradise and we spent our time doing whatever we wanted. But every day, I went to the bar. I sat, and I waited. As time passed new faces came to the island. I remember seeing Wrex in particular. Someone finally asked me why I spent so much time at the bar, and I answered.

“I made a promise to someone that if things went south, I would meet them here. I’m still waiting.”

There is a part of me that truly hopes that little piece of paradise is really what the afterlife is like.
