Honestly? This movie is worth watching at least once just for the animation. I mean. Holy fuck. How often nowadays do you see 2D animation this smooth and detailed and characters given so much personality and charm through that attention to detail?
Where were you when MLP became more Disney than Disney
Wow I didn’t know Venus was that into puns but that’s seriously amazing.
The pun was my idea.
Venus’ reasoning for handling Marian’s destiny as she did is actually much more heartwarming?
Other members of the party, in a sense, lost parts of their destinies to create their new power (if I was reading everything right).
Isao, our Eclipse, had the many endings his hands would have brought (from men to tyrannies to bloodshed) woven into gloves so that he may use their potential to bring down the Morrigan.
Knott, the Dawn, had the fate of journeys never traveled woven into his wife (who is also his mount and a horse/dragon thing) to make her the swiftest being within Creation; perhaps so that the Morrigan might not see them coming.
But Venus knew that Marian would die a hundred times over before losing a love. Her family, her children, her beloveds. All of the heartache and the devotion. All of the hope and support. So Venus wove all of that back into Marian herself. To add to her strength; so that she would lose nothing and still draw power from beyond herself.
And this is all after helping Marian use True Love’s Kiss to keep Discord (antagonist turned ally by virtue of accidental romantic entanglement) from being possessed by the Morrigan and shredding the party.
i’m slowly working through it as energy allows! still trying to get to them all…
idk if i mentioned this but Elmira did in fact lose her eye permanently as a deal with the War Gods of the North, so like, our Western Queen rocks a pirate eyepatch all the time now
(in this Privateer Queen AU i assume Lark is a half-Wavecrest half-Caulean former cabin boy who knows the names of all the great privateers, and Manus is the son of an auditor in the Admiralty Court who is secretly terrified of letting his gentle, sweet son out to sea and the perils of the military)
