Cityverse in League of Legends AU. Role, lane, and homeland at minimum.

Sherwood – Marksman/Assassin – Bot Lane – Freljord
—A Bit difficult to talk about seeing as he’s basically a sneaky version of Ashe? Even then I wouldn’t rely on his assassin-ness. It would be a neat concept if you could combine some of his later stuff in from Exalted regarding his Gaia powers.
—Abilities include a multishot, a speed increaser, and the thing where I can make my arrows explode

Marian – Fighter – Top Lane/Jungle – Ionia
—No one would expect such a pretty lady to be such a strong fighter especially since she doesn’t carry a weapon. Marian actually borrows a lot from Vi in how I picture her
—Abilities include a slam dunk

Tabor – Assassin – Mid Lane – Possibly Zaun
—Picture Master Yi with two swords instead of one and the ability to stealth like Shaco and you’ve got the idea here
—Major problems: Squishy as hell

Blake – Tank – Top Lane – Definitely Zaun
—A sewn up zombie monster?! But one with a personality like Zac mixed with Brolof. I’ve never thought much into combat style but in one of his skins he’s using a skateboard as a weapon

Piperit – Mage/Support – Bot/Mid – Piltover
—Nobody wants to play this champion. He’s a joke. Like…he’s powerful but his personality is so grating that you just can’t do it. Piperit is likely a better summoner than an actual champion

Wocky – Support – Bot – Bandle City (She’s a yordle and proud)
—SUPPORDLE!
—If Lulu can be the only purple yordle then I don’t see why Wocky can’t have her fiery red hair
—Works a bit like Sona but with more active abilities rather than passive ones….also skill shots

Hope Forged in Flame – Tank/Support – Bot/Jungle – Frejlord
—Stand behind Braum!
—No really Hope is accidentally Braum and I’m not sorry

Harmony of the Storm – Mage – Mid – Bilgewater
—Nami with legs? Eh…
—Abilities include: Heavy burst, a get-at-ya, and something really frustrating like charm or something

Chris – Fighter – Top – Noxus?
—Generic champion is Generic, honestly

Zoey – Mage – Mid – Demacia
—She has a heal or a save of some sort

Esial – Assassin – Mid – Noxus
—Really Generic

Dulcie – Mage – Mid – Piltover? Maybe Demacia? Maybe just…make her a yordle?
—Imagine Lulu and Annie became a singular entity
—Also maybe Shyvana

Marley – Support – Bot – Noxus
—Support Vlad with some sort of really annoying ability like fear or charm

Gwyn – Fighter – Top – Bilgewater
—Whoooooo hides in top bushes in low elo queue?
—Like Gangplank without oranges….so strictly worse

Red Sand Angel – Assassin – Mid – Somewhere in the Shurima Desert (ooh mysterious)
—Possibly void touched but still good like Kassadin
—Really obnoxious and hard to hit (untargetables)

and of course

Nova Starlight – N/A (Support) – N/A (Bot) – Ionia
—I’m not going into detail regarding my self-insert leave me alone

Characters that aren’t mind but whom I can speculate on are

Marsilia Kephri – N/A (Fighter) – N/A (Top/Jungle) – Off World
—Marsilia is GreenSunPrincess’ summoner brought from Creation. She’s a low level summoner because she doesn’t want to deal with the responsibilities higher level summoners have and the Institute wants to keep a careful eye on her (without treating her like a prisoner because she hasn’t done anything to warrant that yet)

Fal – Tank/Mage (can I do that?)/Support? – Top/Jungle – …Noxus? Nah…
—Watch the stocky man take blows for everyone else? Why can’t I hit their carry? Oh…the tank can take all the damage for some reason.
—Number one reason for rage quits. Riot nerfs Irelia instead

Matra – Assassin – Mid – Zaun
—Has to be nerfed several times because people are complaining they don’t know when she’s coming
—Steals yo monies. Everyone is real mad

Knott – Fighter – Top – Icathia (well…until the place fell apart)
—He’s on a horse the whole time. We don’t know how he does it.

Cybran – Fighter/Tank – Top – Demacia
—DEMACIA!

Sabrina – Fighter/Tank – Jungle – Kumungu
—Snake Lady is Scary. Not poisonous like Cass but still scary
—Has a self heal and a shield that hurts you. Never dies

Hestus – Support/Mage? – Bot? – Piltover (oh yeah)

Baldr – Mage – Mid – The Shadow Isles (but really tho)
—Karthus is suing for copyright infringement

Cityverse AU set back in the feudal age. What’s everyone doing?

Okay, the exciting part here is that this means I still get to use Cityverse Rules. That means magic, supernatural beings, and the potential to completely disregard actual history.

The City is a vast territory contested by a few wealthy families; none of whom happen to live within the bounds of the territory but all of whom are close enough to desire claim of the land. Unfortunately for them, in addition to fighting with each other there is a band of ne’er do wells who have been going out of their way to foil any attempts made to overtake the territory; after all the land isn’t unclaimed. There’s simply no major ruling family in charge. Rumors quickly spread that the leader of the delinquents, one Sherwood Princeton Forrest, may have been or presently be the territory’s ‘ruling nobleman’.

Sherwood’s Merry Men consist of himself, a sly and cunning swords-woman, a down on his luck thief, a young faced battle medic, and a terrible monster of a man all stitched together from remains of the fallen.

Meanwhile in one of the nearby kingdoms, an arranged marriage causes the Lady Marian and her loyal handmaiden to flee the Kingdom. Of course, so as to carry no blame on her own shoulders should she be caught, the Lady stages a clever kidnapping. The pair find their way to the contested territory while headed south only to come face to face with the band of miscreants they had originally framed. Instead of having to fear them, the pair are welcomed into the gang and come to see that the warring of the kingdoms over the land would cause its people nothing but anguish. They decide to fight against what they once called home.

There’s a bard who comes through every now and again. She travels between the Kingdoms but always stops in the territory along the way. She doesn’t seem to have an allegiance, but no one sees fit to call her a spy. She’s spotted sometimes with a man in the village many refer to as the Dwarf under their breath (though he doesn’t seem to mind the name). No one is really sure what it is they’re planning, only that plans seem to be in the works.

Nestled into a corner is a small shop full of books. Few are ever seen going inside as the owner is unpleasant and many don’t know how to read anyway. The owner seems content by this, however.

Rumors of a dragon hiding in the forest south of the land make people uneasy. There are superstitions regarding finding a child in the woods; that it is the dragon in disguise.

The lake to the north carries rumors all its own regarding Sirens and Mermaids. Fishermen who have survived harsh storms wake up on the beaches. Few claim they remember being carried back to shore by beautiful women.

That’s all I really have for notable characters. Have fun deciphering who is who in all that mess. Marian and Sherwood don’t count.

Exalted: Marian’s Mind Maze

My present Exalted character, Marian, is terribly afraid of being herself. Growing up she was never good enough because, despite being a prodigy, she never exalted. She believed in love over honor. She held views many would associate with a member of house Nellens. She valued time to herself; to do things that weren’t necessarily useful, but that she enjoyed. All of these things became closely guarded secrets hidden behind a mask designed to make her look as perfect as she could.

She became secretive. Anything she feared would bring out a negative reaction she kept quiet about. She build emotional walls into an elaborate labyrinth with her true self in the center. When that didn’t feel strong enough she filled it with traps and closed any path that actually reached her and she sat alone in the center; hiding away from anyone and everyone. Really she wants people to find their way through, to see her, but she’s afraid of being hurt so she keeps them out as best as she can. Everyone gets to see the superficial Marian that she’s designed to be perfect…or at least controlled imperfection.

Her problems aren’t her own though. Many of her defense mechanisms are to protect her from Sherwood’s pain. Sherwood lived through the deaths of his closest friends. He watched the team’s greatest failures. Sherwood started to get tough with people. He cut off second chances and became something of a miser with his compassion near the end. He tried to do what was right, but he ceased being nice about it.
Marian has Sherwood’s memories.
She’s experiences his pain, his hopelessness, his desire to save everyone and the powerlessness that comes from failure to do so. She’s so terrified of experience any of this again.

So she lies to the party. She hides her Solar status by posing as a masked hero while the real Marian has stayed behind. She doesn’t talk about her past. She doesn’t share her feelings. She simply smiles and complains and bothers every one.

Except tonight something happened.

An argument broke out and for a moment, Marian let down some of her walls. She shared some of her fears and feelings with the member of the party she gets along with least. She opened up even though it scared her and made her feel incredibly vulnerable.

She’s beginning to consider that maybe she’s not a monster. Maybe she hasn’t done anything wrong. Maybe there’s still a chance she can change Creation for the better.

She’s just so sad and broken and fake. I want her to grow more. She could be so much.

Let’s Talk About Exalted? A Look at Good and Evil

hyperionnebulae:

summoner-starlight:

In DnD your alignment is on your character sheet. There are spells that can tell a person if you’re good or evil and give them an idea of whether or not you’re planning on stabbing them in the back (or at least asking the Rogue to do so for you).
In Exalted that luxury doesn’t exist; we have stereotypes instead.

I do not plan to make the case of Matra being a “good” character; she is most certainly morally-objectionable. Just… she is having a hard time lately.

After her fate string was cut, she lost a lot of the things that tied her down to being a very “human” and fun loving little girl. She is really just a scared little girl who has nightmares every night of her biological family telling her she is worthless and prompting her to eat human flesh… she’s really not okay…

And on top of that, every time her fate has changed (twice) she has become more like her exaltation’s mother, Saturn. Saturn is the maiden of endings and can see when the time is for someone to die.

Matra isn’t detached because she is heartless (compassion 3), she just is struggling with her self worth and feels that she cannot effectively impact the world.

She grew up as a result of coming back to the party. Truth: her childhood innocent was much more fun to play. However, at least now she doesn’t feel as disjointed as she was previously with her alter-ego.

Definitely morally grey. Neutral something/Something neutral.

I never meant to imply Matra wasn’t morally grey! She’s a beautiful and complex character who has suffered and is dealing with a lot of stuff (just like Marian or Knott or Ven) and I think her growth as a person has been very interesting to watch (and wow do I adore her she’s a peach).

I guess I’m just trying to explore this morally grey campaign we seem to be participating in. I’m trying to find the good and continue to convince myself that we’re not morphing into evil campaign like Alex and Jenn think we are.

If nothing else I think we’re all very beautiful and complex characters who are dealing with their lives in a very realistic manner. Except maybe Danzig and Jin because I haven’t gotten to really see much of their development.

Flight Rising Legacy Challenge #2 and #3

Okay so the FR Legacy challenge is actually really cool and challenging and I know what I want to do with it and I’m going to see about making really rad Yozi dragons while I go. That’s what Malfeas and Cytherea are for. Malfeas was a Plague egg I hatched a while ago now, but since I haven’t bred him yet I decided to throw him into the challenge. His mate will be Cytherea who was chosen for her color range and named for another (potential?) Yozi (whose story is really sad and I love her).

I also want to introduce Catequil and Tempest who are another leg of my Legacy adventure. Cetequil was hatched today (June 11) and Tempest was purchased both for her colors and as an attempt to bump the offspring rarity up by one. You can follow all of their adventures on my FR blog starlight-flight

Or you can check me out (and friend me/message me) on FR: Here!

Flight Rising Legacy Challenge!

Okay, just a heads up for my followers: if you would like to avoid this set of posts they will be tagged with #flight rising legacy challenge, #flight rising, and #Morasha’s Legacy

Now, to begin: What is the FR legacy challenge?
You start with a first gen unbred plentiful dragon. That is your founder.
You then find another dragon of the same flight as your founder for under 10,000 treasure that has not bred before.
The goal is to breed beautiful dragons within 10 generations
To find out more, go here.

Above is Morasha, a tundra first gen that I originally bought from the AH as Exalt fodder for Wind Flight’s dominance push. When I went to name her, I discovered she was first gen and unbred (and was super cheap). What better way to begin the Legacy challenge than with her?

This is SunsetStorm (found him named already) purchased for less than 10k on the AH and chosen for being triple gened and a rarer breed of dragon. There’s an 18 days cooldown before they can breed, but I have high hopes.

The Price of Innovation or Why Everyone Should Be Excited Over the Pokemon Remakes

Not that I’ve seen anyone that isn’t excited, but now is a good time to talk about this.

I see a lot of complaints, fairly often, in regard to nothing innovative coming out of the big developer markets. Whining about why there are a million Madden games or how Call of Duty never changes its gaming formula. Cries from gamers about wanting new and innovative games. Games that question what a game is. Games that don’t feel like carbon copies of everything we have already seen.

Yet, these games do exist. They make very poor money in sales compared to the big name games that come out every year with an additional number or a lazy subtitle. These games that should take off and test our limits but that barely make enough money to cover the cost to make them.

Gamers don’t want innovation. We think we do, but we don’t. We’re too afraid we’ll end up wasting money on something we don’t like, so we buy what we know works. The same can be said for consoles and its for this reason that so many people are so unimpressed with the next gen consoles. They’re not new and different. They’re not much more impressive than their previous counterparts; but they’re safe.

Let’s look at Nintendo though.

Nintendo took a big leap when they released a dual screen console (the Wii U). The concept had never been done (at least not successfully and on this scale). It was a risk. As of March 31, 2014 the Wii U has sold 6.71 million units. Compare this to the PS4’s 7 million and the Xbox One’s 5 million. Now figure in the fact that the Wii U has been out about a year longer and is the cheapest of the three consoles. It has full HD capability. You can use it as a TV remote. You can watch Netflix. You can multitask between the television and the Wii U. Not to mention the Wii U has a much larger selection of games than either of the other consoles and is backwards compatible with its previous generation.

It’s doing terribly.

Nintendo has done things like this in the past. They’ve released games and systems that were different and innovative and suffered for it, and yet: it’s 2014 and they’re still trying.

Why are they so successful?

Because Nintendo knows they can make up for these lost profits by selling us comfortability. They pump out new Pokemon, Mario sequels (New Mario Kart coming soon), and games like Smash Bros. To fund their innovations they keep hitting our nostalgia buttons so they know they’ll have the money to do what they really want. The internet lets them take that a step further by letting us re-buy older Nintendo games via console download for next to nothing on their end.

Support Innovation. Buy the Pokemon remakes. Keep your eyes open for something new on Nintendo’s shelves. Don’t be afraid of a little risk next time you’re in the game store. You might just spark something.

You know what the chain of command is?

Just as a note before I begin: I was the secondary party involved in the mentioned DnD scuffle. I play Salih, the vampire who does what is right (usually within the confines of what she recognizes as law).

Now in Vampire (Vetala) culture in this world everything is heavily laid on tradition. Rules set forth from the beginning sway the decisions you make now because that is what is expected. It’s very much built on a “listen to your elders” and “seek guidance from the teachings of Darah” ((Goddess and creator of the Vetala)) sort of thing.

Now, none of us are really sure, but we think Salih might be the oldest member of the party. We’re not sure mainly because I feel like Vetala have a sixth sense about one’s age relative to their own but they do not keep track after they have grown out of their child state. Salih, more than likely, could not tell you her age but could tell you that she is older than you are. Because of this, she sort of just demands respect.

The other thing I’ve been thinking about, is while Vetala take a major issue with water*, there are still jobs that require the nearby rivers to be traversed. Before settling in as a Wizard, Salih spent her time as a Merchant, often traveling on Vetalan vessels down the river to important destinations for trade. Jobs like hers were seen as incredibly dangerous and also demand a large amount of respect.

However, Salih is not a leader by nature; that is, she’s not one to give direct orders. She makes suggestions she believes hold great weight due to her personal status which get pooled with other, similarly weighted suggestions. From those, with a bigger picture exposed, she will pick one and go with it. In this particular case, she was not able to express her suggestion and thus, the action that occurred was disagreeable and the person who made the poor decision was informed of their grievous error.

But wait, there’s more! Salih would have dropped it at that point. “You made a mistake, I disagree with the decision you made, and you are an idiot for it,” is about the most you will get from a Vetala with nothing personal involved in your decision. Of course, this particular decision ended in a boatload of people exploding (attack on virtue = compassion ((good))) so there was much more screaming involved.

And then Katar went in to hit her.

Let’s be frank. When you are a creature with 10 damage reduction who heals 5 hitpoints every turn you are not afraid of the fishboy and his wooden katana, no matter how many Sla’ad you’ve seen him murder. When you can bend the very reality of the world to your will a man with a wooden sword, an Ikanian no less (Ikanians and Vetala have past grudges), you don’t even flinch. Unless he made a real effort to harm her (-cough- water -cough-) Salih would have stood there and waited for him to tire out. She wouldn’t waste her time on him there.

In her defense, she did end up apologizing. She doesn’t know much about the culture of Ikanians because her people share so little in common with them that, to her, they don’t amount to much. She respects them for their sea-faring abilities to a lesser extent than her own people because Ikanians are just “fish with legs” (and don’t die when they fall overboard).

Part of the point of all of this is that Salih doesn’t recognize Katar as the party leader. Of the party: Katar’s, Rhomadon’s (a Sphinx), and her own opinions and ideas and suggestions all carry weight ((Raj, the centaur’s do not)). She will consider ideas and suggestions thrown out by the two of them; but no one person leads this group brought together only by necessity.

That’s all I wanted to add.

*Like traditional Vampires, Vetala cannot cross running water. Unlike traditional Vampires, Vetala can’t even be on the water without special circumstances. Vetala also treat rain as though it were sunlight for the purposes of weakness. Water in any large amount will kill a Vetala, for Ikan is angry with them (and is a huge jerk). They also hate mirrors.

You know what the chain of command is?

Ronin sidereal, you say? I believe there aren’t enough of those in my life right now. Care to share any details?

Oh man! This character was recycled from other things long since past but he is amazing and I love him and has always been incredibly important to me.

I’m gonna throw all this under a readmore because it might get wordy, I apologize.

really like this guy. Augh I love Knight of Fate-style stuff, like I just adore stuff that completely breaks what we know of an existing splat and makes other members of it look at the character like they’re kind of freaked out right now

(and also I would like to know if you drew his profile picture above or else where I might go to commission the artist)

First and foremost, the image you see was done by the glorious Pimp-Mama or Steph and you can check out her art here

Second, I read this right after waking up and nearly fell out of bed because I’m super proud of this guy as a character and it’s rad that you like him so much.

Third: What’s really interesting is that the campaign we’re doing ow exists in an alternate universe from Tabor’s campaign. He exists, but he never made his initial escape (and is no longer a chosen of Secrets). He’s retained his status as the Knight of Fate; but now is a Bronze Faction lapdog. He has all of his (previously missing) self confidence and is a huge jerk. This, of course, was all our storyteller’s ideas but I am in love with how she handled his change in character with his change in circumstance.

summoner-starlight:

At the end of the first age the Sidereals had succeeded in ‘Saving’ creation by placing the Dragonbloods in charge and eliminating the Solar Exalts from the world. A single Sidereal held a dying exalt in her arms and tied her ribbon to the mast of their ship. That night she opened her eyes and peered into the loom of fate before fading from Creation.

Years later, Kinder Alicen was taken as a child to the schools of Yu-Shan, for she was destined to Exalt and needed to be taught the ways by with each Sidereal learns. During her studies a ribbon fell into her hands and Kinder knew she could no longer live under the way of the Sidereals. She fled to the west of Creation, to a marooned vessel where her life as a student ended; and her life as a Chosen of Endings began.

Hiding between strands of fate Kinder allied herself with who she could get to remember her, and with a mythical beast by her side made her way to the beaches of the mainland. And end was coming, she could feel it, and she would be the one to usher it in.

Kinder, while pretty, could easily be viewed as weak. However, her strength is carried in her words and her fighting is as fierce as any other; particularly on night of the full moon, where her Ancestor’s sorrow rips apart her soul and drives her to madness.

Kinder’s charm set are as follows:- Absence: Kinder can remove any penalties while dodging an enemy
– Blinding the Boar: Kinder can make herself difficult to focus on or even notice. Her words become garbled, her appearance indescribable, and her actions hard to decipher.
– Duck Fate: Kinder can pull aside the strings of fate to avoid harm, as though said harm was never intended for her
– First Presence Excellency: For each mote spent, up to essence motes, one die may be added to any presence roll

Kinder’s other charms exist as traits of her Martial arts form:Dreaming Pearl Courtesan Style
Martial artists who learn the Dreaming Pearl Courtesan Style become consummate performers with charisma and grace to spare, and they can be as elusive as dreams. They wield desires like swords, and the masters can become things out of nightmare. The style emphasizes finesse and subtle manipulation rather than brute power… —Scroll of the Monk, Exalted p.88
