Plant People (they need a real name) who live off planet don’t have access to proper soil and required nutrients, so they eat things that are rich in those nutrients much like carnivorous plants would. There’s also a variety of vitamins and minerals they can consume in pill form in they’re worried. Any space ship housing plant people usually has several sun lamps for photosynthesis. Ships they build themselves are like very complex greenhouses.

They are capable of speech, mostly picked up from offworld, but typically communicate with each other via smell and touch. They can absorb scents through their skin.

They can also regrow limbs, though the process is taxing and typically not worth it; unless you’re a member of the Galactic Federation (space cops). Then it’s usually worth it.

Proper grooming is important to plant people, as an appealing appearance is important for attracting pollinating insects. Insects, especially bees, are very important to plant people. Plant people have high respect for bees and other pollinators.

Plant people do not have sexes or a concept of gender, because they are plants, but in societies where these things exist as norms will sometimes adopt appearances and pronouns that interest them. Dhalia lives in a major galactic hub and has formed a traditionally feminine body (by Earth standards) and enjoys female or neutral pronouns.
